1973 HQ Monaro LS - Today’s Tempter
Tidy-looking Monaro claims just two owners.

Holden’s second-generation hero coupe didn’t quite make the impact of the original body shape, but it’s nevertheless gaining acceptance with collectors.

Evidence of that is the $157,500 bid picked up by an HQ GTS350 (albeit a special one) at a recent Lloyds auction in Queensland.

This series came in numerous configurations, including five engines (two sixes and three V8s) plus auto or manual transmissions. Trim levels varied hugely, from very basic to luxurious and sporty.

This particular car is a nice combo: 308ci (5.0lt) V8 with a three-speed auto. It also has the sporty dash with a GTS steering wheel.

The owner says it’s a two owner car that’s been looked after, something backed up by the pics.

Priced at $65,000, it comes with a RWC and is located in NSW.
