Competition-style refit is unusual

Unusual Cortina restomod looks a treat.

Ford’s MkII Cortina achieved what its arguably prettier predecessor did not, which is become Britain’s top-selling car.

The lean and boxy styling gives it a much lighter look than the MkI and the car proved to be a solid seller in Australia. Two and four-door versions were available in various levels of trim, with local cars assembled at Broadmeadows.

Several engines were used in this series, with the 1600 Crossflow four probably ranking as the most popular. If you wanted more power, there was also a twin-cam 1600 and a V6 Essex engine fitted to this body shape.

This car has had a really interesting restomod done, and would work as a competition tribute car that you could take for the odd club event with no trouble. It already has a roll cage plus competition seats and harnesses fitted.

The good-looking engine bay is dominated by twin Weber carburettors and it’s running a four-speed manual transmission.

Located in Queensland, the owner is asking $25,000.
