Ten $295k BMW M4 DTM Champion Editions for Australia
DTM tribute car is only for very serious players.

To commemorate racing driver Marco Wittmans DTM championship win, BMW has announced an ultra-exclusive BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition with 10 units confirmed for Australia.

Limited to a global run of only 200, the new BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition is a faster and better-handling version of the current M4.

BMW Group Australia has confirmed that it will receive 10 units. Securing five per cent of the M4 DTM Champion Editions global allocation is an honour for BMW in this country, said BMW Group Australia CEO Marc Werner.

Marco Wittman piloted the BMW M4 DTM to a championship victory in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) in 2014, and then once again in 2016.

BMW's new exclusive M4 was given the Champion Edition title in commemoration of the German driver's efforts.

"On the back of the sold-out M4 GTS, the M4 DTM Champion Edition offers similar racetrack-inspired performance with further exclusivity, and is a fitting tribute to Marcos achievements," said Werner.

The 3.0-litre straight six under the bonnet is rated at 368kW and 600Nm; that's a 51kW and 50Nm increase over the standard M4.

That's matched to a seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission, which will allow the car to sprint from 0-100km/h in a claimed 3.8 seconds.

Bolstering the car's position as a lightweight racer, its interior features thin-shelled bucket seats, a roll-over protection system, six-point harness and a fire extinguisher.

In terms of suspension, the car is fitted with three-way adjustable M Coilover suspension that is complete with remote reservoirs.

Pricing starts at $295,000, and it is likely that most units have already been spoken for.
