Here we have a gorgeous Alfa Romeo GTV 105 for sale on Trade Unique Cars, but if originality is your thing, then this car is probably not for you.

Built from the ground up by Peter Watt, the four-pot Italian is said to have had over $100k spent on it by its current owner. The car is set up for tarmac rally, and has competed in six Targa events since 2011 when the project was completed.

Some of the car’s aftermarket features include a new 1750cc motor, a recently-overhauled limited-slip differential, a bespoke alloy fuel tank with a dual-fuel system, twin Sparco race seats, full roll-cage and a complete rally interior with Terra-Trip and race-ready electronics.

Though this particular car has had significant work, the GTV 105 was no slouch from factory. When the 1.6-litre engine was swapped out for a double overhead-cam 1750cc motor in 1968, the car made a very impressive 99.4kW, and could achieve a top speed of 185km/h.

The 105 Series coupes were significantly popular in Australia, so finding one shouldn’t be an issue. The real drama is finding one with a clean body, as a thorough de-rusting on one of these can often cost above $20,000.

The 1968 Alfa Romeo GTV 105 we see here comes with a RWC and is advertised at $65,000; that’s a fair chunk of change, but if the car is as well set up as the seller suggests, we reckon it’d make a fantastic weekend racer.
