Ford XY GT hits $127k, Holden XU-1 $112.5k - auction

Ford XY GT and Torana GTR XU-1 score big numbers at auction.

The XY GT Ford pulled big dollars.

The two star Aussie cars at tonight's Shannons auction in Melbourne hit big numbers.

A 1972 Ford XY GT which we regarded as a bellweather lot sold for $127,000 - an exceptional result. We featured the car earlier in the week.

Arguably the other star local lot was a 1973 Torana GTR XU-1, which comprehensively broke the $100k barrier with a sale price of $112,500.

Overall the sale rate for the auction was very high, with only a few lots passed in.
