Ford Falcon BF Cobra – today’s tempter

This 30th anniversary special has been kept in a bubble all its life

Ford Falcon BF Cobra – today’s tempter
This BF Falcon Cobra has been kept in a bubble and is now on the market.

Ford's BF Falcon Cobra caused a hell of a stir at the time, and was released in the hope of injecting new interest in the Falcon range.

In a feature comparing this car with the original hardtop, we wrote:

Read the press release, and the FPV GT Cobra was introduced to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the XC Hardtops' now famous 1-2 victory formation at the 1977 Bathurst 1000 race, which led to the release of the limited edition Cobra XC Hardtop the following year.
Truth be known, Ford Oz would have been itching for any excuse to re-release the Cobra, one of the most recognisable and admired of all homegrown Ford products.
At almost every opportunity in recent memory the Broadmeadows' boys had rolled out some old Cobras for a promotional stunt. Remember the gathering of 50 Cobras at Ford's head office in 2003 for the model's 25th anniversary? What about Allan Moffat and Colin Bond squeezing back into their '77 winning steeds for some parade laps over the 2002 Bathurst weekend?

Here's the full story.

In the meantime, we just spotted this in our classifieds: an as-new BF Cobra, never registered, and with only 33km on it!

Here, in part, is what the ad says:

For sale 2008 BF MK2 Ford Cobra 30th Anniversary. This vehicle is plated 2008 not 2007 which makes it more the rare as only 126 units were made in 2008 with the 6 speed manual and being that the Ford Cobra raced Bathurst in 1978 makes it the 30th Anniversary model.
Managing Director purchased this vehicle for his private collection, has never been registered and has only 33kms. The vehicle is being stored in a climate-controlled unit safe from the elements. Purchaser will be the 1st official owner!!
This vehicle comes with all documentation, official papers and letter of Authenticity from Ford Australia. Also comes with Ford Racing Jackets brand new officially signed by Racing drivers from Ford Australia.
Asking price of $100,000.
