1994 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-SPEC II — Today’s Tempter

Big dollars on this Skyline, but it claims to be a rarity.

The Nissan GT-R has become one of the most respected and successful nameplates to come out of Japan. Over multiple decades, the GT-R has proved itself as a supercar-rivaling sportscar on both road and track, so it’s no surprise that original examples are rapidly appreciating in value.

The Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R was released in Japan in 1989 as Nissan’s flagship performance car. Equipped with a 2.6-litre twin-turbo engine, an all-wheel-drive system and well over 200kW of power, the car was able to sprint form 0-100km/h in under five seconds.

The GT-R became highly-significant in Australian motorsport in 1991, when the R32 GT-R N1 was introduced to the Bathurst 1000. The car dominated the Group A racing tournament, earning the affectionate title ‘Godzilla’.

To celebrate the car’s motorsport success, Nissan built the V-Spec in 1993, and the V-Spec II the following year. Both iterations featured Brembo brakes, an upgraded engine, 17" BBS wheels and a plethora of light-weight parts designed for racing.

This car presents as an original V-Spec II GT-R. Its odometer has just 116,000 kilometres, and it is said to be in good condition inside and out. The seller is asking $55,000, which is a lot of money for a Skyline, but it may be a good investment considering its claim to be one of only 1306 units ever produced.
