HX Monaros carry an inconic name and were probably undervalued for years. However with the HX-HZ lines and the special treatment the GTS designation implies, interest is strong again - particularly on anything that's well-presented, as rust would have sent many to an early grave.
The whole proposition gets a whole lot more attractive if there's a recent restoration, as the costs in doing it yourself can be substantial.
This particular Monaro which Lloyds Auctioneers is putting under the hammer is a 1976 HX GTS model which has undergone a full restoration at some point in the recent past and lists the 308ci V8 as having a performance camshaft (among other upgrades also, you would expect) and a Hurst quick shift sitting on top of the auto box.
Up front an aluminium radiator and thermo fan help keep the plot cool.
Cragar-style wheels from ROH and the bright orange metallic paint with black stripes give off a distinctly late-90s vibe which won't be to everyone's taste but could mean a potential bargain for those who can see past the paint job.
A verification letter from Holden certifying that this is a genuine Monaro GTS four-door is included and adds certainty of provenance for those who may think it's just a made-up car.
