March 1988 Dick Johnson XD Falcon
Back in 1988 old racing cars weren't seen as collectible. Therefore, whoever took a dust-gathering XD off Dick Johnson's hands for somewhere south of 25 grand probably wasn't doing it in the hope of making a profit. That just happened.
The car they call Tru Blu is now housed in the extensive Bowden Collection, from where it often emerges for on-track demonstrations. We doubt you will get a chance to buy it but the XD must rank just behind the Moffat Phase 3, also owned by the Bowdens, as Australia's most recognisable (and perhaps valuable) Falcon race car.
Then $25,000 Now $400,000+
