Video: Sidchrome Cobra part 3 - update

Our mates over at Street Machine magazine have been working with Sidchrome to build what could turn out to be the ultimate sixties tribute car. You might remember last year when they created a killer Kombi van with help from the guys at Chisholm TAFE in Dandenong and VW Performance Centre. This time around they’re stepping it up bigtime, with a V8-powered Python Vehicles Cobra.

This will be the 101st car to roll out of Python’s South Melbourne workshop. Aside from Cobras, the crew also build some very special bikes and plenty of bad-arse hot rods and muscle cars.

George at Python Vehicles – who has 30 years of experience with these things – has hit the fascinating stage, where they’re just starting to fit up the major mechanicals to the Street Machine Cobra.

This is the first time the crew has used the Ford Coyote powerplant – yep the same that powers the current Mustang – so there’s a fair bit of measuring, checking and custom fabrication going on. The motor is a brand-spanking 5.0-litre Ford Coyote V8 — a crate deal from Sean Hyland Motorsport in Canada. The donk will run a stock Mustang intake, but with custom pipes. One thing’s for sure, the little Cobra will have no shortage of grunt.

Then there’s the Tremec transmission to install, some new wheels to mock-up and a one-off rear end to design and put together from scratch. All up, this is a fascinating stage in the project and has to be seen.

Oh and don’t forget that Sidchrome is giving you a chance to win the end result. See winwithsidchrome.com.au
