Mercedes-Benz celebrates 130 at Motorclassica
Iconic German marque puts on a special show to celebrate 130 years
Mercedes-Benz will commemorate 130 years since the creation of the first automobile with a special display at this year’s Motorclassica.
Staged at Melbourne’s Royal Exhibition Building from 21-23 October, this year’s Motorclassica will see Mercedes-Benz reveal a new vehicle for its first public viewing in Australia.
"Motorclassica is a very special event where we all have the pleasure of seeing so many rare and unique vehicles, both classic and new. This year Mercedes-Benz Australia will celebrate not only 130 years of the automobile but also open top touring," said Horst von Sanden, CEO and Managing Director, Mercedes-Benz Cars Australia/Pacific.
Outside the world-heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building, Mercedes Benz will once again host its Drive Experience.
Motorclassica visitors will be offered the chance to test drive a range of models on a short course adjacent to the show, including some of the latest AMG models.
The 2016 event at Melbourne’s Royal Exhibition Building will see hundreds of cars and motorcycles on show both inside its 19th century halls and alongside in the adjacent Lorbek Luxury Cars-supported ‘Club Sandwich’ club displays.
Saturday night will also see the annual Motorclassica collector car auction, conducted by Australia’s oldest auction house, Theodore Bruce.
Many of the prized cars and motorcycles set for display at Motorclassica will kick the weekend off on Thursday morning (20 October) at the Tour Classica, with participants setting off from the Sidney Myer Music Bowl for a tour through the streets of Melbourne to the Royal Exhibition Building.
