2013 Shannons Melb Winter Classic Auction

Shannons held its 2013 Melbourne Winter Classic Auction on Monday, 1 July with a total of 67 lots on offer including cars, motorcycles, automobilia and a few other interesting stand-outs like a blasting detonator (sold for $1,200) and a 18ft wooden runabout with trailer (passed in).

SOLD!

Both Ford Mustangs listed on the night sold: a red 1965 A-Code Coupe (RHD), 289ci V8 3-speed auto sold for $29,000 and a red 1969 convertible (RHD) 302ci V8 3-speed auto sold for $39,000.

Other items sold included:

· 1972 Porsche 914 Targa Coupe RHD (precursor to today’s Boxster). Mid-engine 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder 5-speed manual: Sold $11,500.

· 1973 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia convertible LHD. 1600cc 4-cylinder, 4-speed manual . Regarded by some enthusiasts and collectors as the prettiest of all Volkswagens, the cabriolet is more rare than the sleek coupe. Sold $13,750.

· 1968 Bristol 410 2-door Saloon. 8-cylinder, 318ci (Chrysler V8), 3-speed auto. Continuing the Bristol tradition of being built to order, it is believed around only 79 models were built in a two-year production cycle making this a rare collector’s car.

· 1954 MG TF 1250 Roadster. In-line 4-cylinder, 1250cc, 4-speed manual. The TF of 1953 was the last traditional MG and considered the most desirable and most graceful of the T-Series. Sold $37,000. Also listed was a 1953 MG TD2 Roadster which passed in with a guiding range of $25,000 - $30,000.

· 1956 Piaggio Ape AC1 150cc 3-wheeler. Developed as a more practical alternative to the traditional Piaggio-owned Vespa scooter, originally introduced in 1948. Sold $11,500.

· 1968 Morris Mini Cooper-S Replica. 1330cc 4-speed manual. Sold $14,750

· 1969 Ford Capri 1600 Coupe. 1600cc 3-speed auto. Sold $6,000.

· 1989 Jaguar XJS TWR Kit Coupe. Sold $8,000.

· Triumph Tiger 100 Solo. Sold $13,500.
