60 years of Porsche in Oz celebrated
Motorclassica 2011
Melbourne’s premium Motorclassica concours opens at the Royal Exhibition Building tomorrow (Friday, 21 October) and promises big things, with the highlight being a celebration of 60 years of Porsche in Australia.
The organisers say:
Within our walls you will find more than 180 cars of the rich and famous (and infamous), preserved beauties, highly restored antiquities, championship-winners and ground-breaking concepts, many of which you many never see again. Certainly you will never see them all together nor in a more engaging display, all under one roof.
But it’s not just the cars who star this year. We are proud to welcome as our special guests, 5-time Le Mans-winner, Derek Bell and Aussie Le Mans-winner Vern Schuppan who will help us in celebrating 60 years of Porsche in Australia.
The Classic Car Show will feature more than 80 exhibitors who are sure to appeal to those who appreciate the classics.
An Auto Art Show will bring together more than a dozen painters, sculptors, photographers, sketch artists, modelers and jewelry artists whose work is inspired by the motoring lifestyle.
Add to that an informative series of afternoon discussions on our Main Stage covering topics as diverse as “Buying Your First Classic Car” to the argument of “Preserve of Restore”, along with a range of free displays and entertainment at the weekend’s Picnic with the Classics.
