It's time for a change of direction
Okay, if you combine the headline with the pic, you could be forgiven for thinking we’re about to start publishing car-themed books for kids. Interesting thought, but no we’re not.
After something like 13 years working off and on for Unique Cars mag, eight-and-a-half as Editor, I’ve decided to ease up and let someone else take the wheel. Angelo Loupetis, who has been with the mag for over 20 years, and has been central to its success over that period, is taking over.
However I’m not running away entirely. You’ll still see my name pop up from time to time as a contributor.
In fact, you’ll see all the familiar names and faces, like Morley, Torrens, Chambers, Uncle Phil, Higgo, Mick, Faine, Blackbourn and so on. This is a well-established crew which brings a wealth of knowledge and what seems like boundless enthusiasm.
Here’s the thing, with a shed full of cars and motorcycles waiting to be played with, plus a new generation of kids coming up through the family, it seemed now was a good time to ease off the work pace that has if anything intensified over recent years.
With digital publishing a major part of what we do, there’s no such thing as a day off and, while that’s exciting and very immediate, there is a point where backing away from the screen and going for a long drive seems like a great idea.
Meanwhile Higgo has been on my case to finish off with a ‘best of’ list from my time at the helm. Easier said than done, but I’ve had a crack it. Try the QR code on this page or go to tradeuniquecars.com.au and search for Guido’s Picks.
So, that’s it. Thanks to everyone who has supported the magazine and our ever-growing digital publishing over the years. Go out and enjoy your cars, be nice to Angelo and each other. See you on the road…
