Australian Event Director Paul Mathers to stage a world class Concours d’Elegance in the UK in July next year

Fresh from staging his tenth successful MotorClassica Classic Car Show in Melbourne, Event Director Paul Mathers, has headed off to the UK to present the inaugural British International Concours d’Elegance at historic Althorp House from 17–19 July, 2020.

Auto Royale to be staged at Althorp, the historic ancestral home of the Spencer family for more than 500 years, promises to be a five-star event showcasing around 150 of the best cars from Britain and abroad competing for class awards, special celebration classes and the coveted Best in Show.

Around 18 eligible classes are available for entry and ultimate selection ranging from the Edwardian era through to 1980. Celebration classes will also include Peugeot (130 years), Auburn (120 years) Alfa Romeo (110 years) and Voisin (100 years). Special coachbuilder classes will cover 150 years of Vanden Plas and 90 years of Pininfarina.

Charles, the ninth Earl Spencer, has also announced a special Class award in honour of his late sister, Princess Diana, awarded to the most elegant car entered by a female collector.

In addition to the Concours, a special Trader Village will be established featuring up to 70 exhibitors from automotive restorers, leading car brands, touring destinations, automotive lifestyle products and artists. Owners of post 1980 sports cars over 3-litres can also display their passion – marques including Ferrari, Brabham, Bugatti, Maserati, Lotus, Pagani, Spyker, Lamborghini, Koenigsegg and more. Vintage and Classic car clubs are also invited to attend with their own member displays in a special entertainment precinct.

According to Lord Spencer, many acknowledge Althorp as one of Britain’s finest country houses set amongst 550 acres of lush, classical parkland. “It is a great pleasure that I open the gates of this special historic place to you for an event I believe is set to take its place among the great International Concours d’Elegance.”

After developing MotorClassica to become a world class event, Paul Mathers is looking forward to staging this new and very exciting world class Concours d’Elegance at this very special location.
