Organisers of this year's Motorclassica are expecting its popular car and motorcycle club display, 'Club Sandwich', to be the biggest yet
Motorclassica ‘Club Sandwich’ 2015
CLUB CULTURE
Motorclassica’s exhibition of the best of Australia’s car clubs will be held at the Museum Plaza of the Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th October.
Sponsored by Lorbek Luxury cars, Club sandwich has grown in popularity year on year. More than 400 classic and collectable cars and motorcycles from 37 clubs are expected over the weekend, as each day hosts a new group of vehicles and clubs.
Event Director, Paul Mathers, says, “We’ve been overwhelmed with demand from Clubs wishing to participate in ‘Club Sandwich’ this year.”
“That’s enabled us to exhibit more cars and motorcycles than ever before, and have more clubs participate, but even so we’ve still had to knock back a number of Clubs and asked others to trim numbers to give us more room,” he added.
Highlighting that the event has something for everyone, Mr Mathers said, “Motorclassica’s Australian International Concours d’Elegance in the Royal Exhibition Building is all about the ‘best of the best’, the high-end big-money collector cars and motorcycles that you rarely see on the street.
“Club Sandwich on the other hand, gives us an opportunity to relive our memories in those cars which have earned a special place in our hearts. It represents classics from our own histories, thanks to everyday enthusiasts, and provides Australia’s strong club movement with a chance to participate in Motorclassica in a more inclusive way, with like-minded people.”
A selection of food stands and vans will be available across the weekend, plus there’s also the opportunity for wine-tasting.
This year’s Motorclassica celebrates 50 years for the Supercar, 50 years of Dino, 50 years of Shelby Mustang, 70 years of MV Agusta and 50 years of the Bugatti Club Australia.
