Day 7: Rod & Archie Allen arrive home after a week-long and almost 3000km adventure in their Morgan 3-Wheeler
Morgan 3-Wheeler Long Drive – Day 7
Date: 12 August, 2015
Drive: Tamworth to Brisbane
Distance: 611.6km
Fuel: 48.64L
A crisp (read: very cold) start in Tamworth. My nephew wanted to be dropped at school in the M3W and scored mega points pulling up at the same time as his usual bus. Then we headed up the fabulous Moonbi hills with some very nice curves. The cold got the better of us by Uralla so we stopped for a hot chocolate in front of the fire.
Had to stop in Tenterfield and grab a photo of the TallyHo Motel.
Finally made it into Queensland and then we got the Severe Weather Warning SMS. Severe thunderstorms with strong winds in Brisbane. Of course! It wouldn’t be right to finish an epic journey with sunny skies. We debated whether to wait out the storm but decided to just push on and take whatever came at us. In the end we chased the storm in and it left just ahead of us.
Down Cunningham’s Gap and a straight run to home.
By the way, when a Police car is directly behind you and turns on his lights and sirens it can be very loud. Thankfully he didn’t want to talk to us, he just wanted us to get out of his way.
And so home.
Total Dist: 2,919klms
Total Fuel: 250.51l
Total Fun.
Now to start planning for “the lap”.
