Day 6: Rod & Archie Allen visit Fighterworld aircraft museum in Williamtown, NSW and say their Morgan 3-Wheeler, which looks like a WW1 fighter plane, scored as much attention as the historical aircraft

Morgan 3-Wheeler Long Drive – Day 6

Date: 11 August, 2015

Drive: Salamander Bay to Tamworth

Distance: 370.9km

Fuel: 30.29L

Sunrise over Nelson’s Bay. Stunning. We had a glorious little drive around the Nelson’s Bay area taking photos of the Morgan 3-Wheeler obscuring lovely NSW coastal vistas. Saw the 21km beach stretching south from Anna Bay at Birubi Beach.

Now if you are driving a car that looks a little like a World War 1 Fighter Plane, then it is mandatory to visit Fighterworld aircraft museum at Williamtown. Great chance to sit in the cockpit of a Mirage and get up close and personal with an F-111. They have a fully restored Spitfire and an ME-109. They are in the process of restoring a Sopwith Camel. The M3W scored more photos that the F-111 and the Spitfire combined. We’ll be up on their facebook page by now.

We tried out the new Hunter Expressway and then sauntered up the New England Highway. Beautiful countryside

Took the obligatory photo with the Golden Guitar and then did a “Peelie”. That’s the term the locals use for cruising down the main street, Peel Street.

Tomorrow home.
