2022 Market Review - Mitsubishi Cordia/Lancer/Evo I-IX
Lancer EVOs took years to arrive officially onto the Australian market, however earlier imports remain easy to find. EVO VI-VIIIs sit at around $50,000, with I-IIIs about $10,000 cheaper.
The cars that cause collectors to pounce when one appears are the Makinen Edition 6.5s, of which 2500 were built and enjoy international market presence. UK Car #001 sold during 2021 for an astonishing US$203,000 and local Makinens are headed for $100,000.
For those who want an EVO that is cheaper than that and can be driven every day, the MR automatic is half the price of a six-speed EVO IX and easier on your clutch leg in traffic.
If you want an older Mitsi with potential to appreciate, hunt down a scarce Cordia (turbos are best), Lancer GSR Turbo or even a late-1990s MR Coupe.
Cordia GSR Turbo $7950 (2)
Lancer GSR 1993-97 $21,995 (2)
