Mitsubishi 1980-2006 – 2022 Market Review

2022 Aussie Family & Sports Car Market Review - Mitsubishi 1980-2006

Fuel price panic made Mitsubishi’s Sigma a top seller during the late-1970s and conferred some of its success on the 1980s Magna, but where have they all gone?

More than 300,000 Sigmas were built here; probably half of them with the 2.6-litre engine, yet during the first half of 2022 we found just three. TM-TP Magnas did a little better but these cars still lack enthusiast support and are disappearing.

Later Magnas survive in greater numbers but again the story isn’t promising when the focus narrows to specialised models like the All-Wheel Drive V6 and Magna Ralliart.

Mitsubishi’s AWD system showed how inventive the local engineering team could be and these cars, as do the sporty Ralliarts, deserve to survive.

Sigma 2.6 $5685 (3)
Sigma GSR (N/S)
Magna TM-TP $4300 (6)
Magna Elite TM-TP $4400 (2)
Magna AWD TJ-TL $5560 (8)
Magna Ralliart $10,735 (3)
