Big demand for well-used Toyota
A well-worn Toyota HiLux trade-in at Gunnedah Toyota (NSW) has become an unintended social media hit.
With 990,800km on the clock, the well-used but still running dual-cab ute was offered on Facebook for $500 and sold more or less instantly, with a few people lining up for the keys.
The Facebook post read: “At only 990,800kms this old girl has plenty of life to live in its 2.4 petrol. For sale unregistered for only $500. First in!!!! Perfect farm vehicle. Or show us your Toyota Hilux speedo reading. Oh what a feeling!”
Gunnedah Toyota Used Car Manager Adam Ryan told Unique Cars mag, “We were quite shocked at the interest.
“The person who traded it is a local and she had owned it for about 10 years.
“It was nominally valued at a dollar, but we gave a $500 trade-in.”
The former owner swapped it for another HiLux – a Workmate with ‘just’ 320,000km on the odo. “I guess she sees that as a low mileage car,” suggested Ryan.
Going on the experience so far, it seems she’s right…
