We caught up with Anne Mulder and her MGF at the 2019 MG Nationals in Queensland
Anne and husband Clive (who owns a trophy-winning V8 GT) drove just five minutes from home to reach the Nationals’ rain-swept venue. However, 15 years before they had crossed the Indian Ocean to bring their shared love of the MG. brand to Queensland.
“My husband and I met because we owned MGs,” Anne explained. “Between us we had five including a Farina sedan, MGBs, a Midget and the GT V8.” The couple still have a 1974 MGB which they used for competitive events – it’s awaiting shipment from South Africa. However Anne’s current MG has grown into an obvious favourite.

“I wanted an MGF when they first came out in 1997,” Anne recalled “Then I found out I was pregnant so it wouldn’t have been practical.” However, this locally-acquired car in scarce purple with variable valve-timing has fulfilled all of Anne’s expectations.
“It’s my daily drive car, very economical and easy to park, especially when you’ve got the roof down. Like all MGs, it’s a lovely touring car and always inviting you to just take it for a drive.”
