2022 Market Review - Mazda 800/1000-1300/808/1500/Capella/RX-2/RX-3
Extreme asking prices for early Mazdas, especially the rotary-powered cars, reflect a Japanese market besieged by North American collectors who have gone crazy for these cars.
If you already have an RX, you are fortunate, but buyers might be sensible to sit for a while to see where values go.
Prices being asked for Mazda 1000-1300s and the RX-3-look alike 808 have been influenced by neglected cars on offer recently, and this tends to be a segment where buyers tend to want ‘drive now’ cars not tedious restorations.
RX-2s offered at under $80,000 are decent value, so too are the few RX3 sedans selling below $100,000. Despite immense asking prices, R100s are less desirable in the long term than the 12A-powered cars.
