2021 Market Review - Maserati 1963-2010
Maseratis were once considered exotic and the province of lottery winners. It’s true that cars from 1950s-60s are scarce and valuable but the 1970s saw perceptions change.
Even before the brand was trashed by the appalling BiTurbo, Maserati had started looking like a pauper to Ferrari and Lamborghini and values slumped. Recent efforts such as the 3200GT coupe and Quattroporte sedan depreciate alarmingly and sell at $40-45,000.
Double that amount and you are looking at a GranTurismo or perhaps a rare V8 twin-turbo Shamal. Looking back to the 1970s and with $125-150,000 available, consider the V6 Merak SS or an Indy V8. Bora V8s, of which five once called Australia home, scarcely appear anymore and global values exceed $300,000.
Merak/Merak SS $127,245 [2]
Indy $138,250 [2]
Bi-Turbo Spyder 1985-92 $49,155 [6]
3200GT 1999-2002 $44,210 [7]
Gransport 2004-08 $60,300 [12]
Quattroporte 1999-05 $47,210 [15]
Gran Turismo 2008-10 $86,820 [8]
