Local hero cars pull big numbers at Lloyds auction

Record prices for A9X and HQ Monaro

Today’s Lloyds classic car auction pulled a couple of proverbial rabbits out of the hat, with two exceptional results on Holden coupes.

Online pre-auction bidding took the starting price for the star car – an A9X hatchback – to $260,000, and moved no further. That’s the highest price paid for an A9X in recent years.

Another incredibly strong price was for the HQ Monaro GTS350 (lot 31), originally built as a GM show car. Bidding began at $147,000 and pulled up at an incredible $157,500 – definitely a record for this model.
