Rare premium V8 sedan
Few Australian-made and designed cars seem to divide opinion as successfully as the Leyland P76. Sadly the series suffered an early demise, though this had little to do with quality of the concept.
It should, really, have gone on to shake up the local industry.
Collectors have taken a stronger interest in the series in recent years, particularly since the demise of the wider Australian auto-making industry.
The ultra-rare Force 7 coupes always command strong money, while any V8 sedan is a pretty good prospect for readily finding a new home.
This Targa Florio is one of just 488 made and stands out as the premium four-door model. It clearly needs restoration work and would probably be a rewarding project for someone with decent body and paint skills.
The mechanicals should be no great issue, since they’re based on the widely-used Leyland alloy V8s. It’s with Pennant Hills Auto in NSW and is listed at $20,000.
Let us know if you buy it, as we’d love to follow the project!
