2021 Market Review - Land-Rover/Range Rover 1949-2003
Old workhorses dragged out of sheds and restored can bring megabucks, as sales of early Landies have shown. A top example sold locally for $61,500 and a similar model was recently auctioned in the UK for just a little less.
Most 1950s survivors still need significant restoration though and are worth a tenth of a restored version’s value. Later SII-IIIs with life left make $15,000, while Defenders recently retired from the Armed Forces are in the $25-30,000 range.
Early Range Rover values have made gains, although not into six-figure territory where some vendors have attempted to send them. Post-1985 Rangies offer better value, especially the 2002-08 Sport with its 3.6-litre V8 and loads of luxury for under $25,000.
Series I 1950-57 $26,200 [10]
Series II/III $16,065 [25]
110/Defender 1988-99 $28,885 [17]
Range Rover 1972-82 $48,750 [6]
Range Rover 1983-94 $12,385 [10]
Range-Rover/HSE 1995-03 $16,500 [10]
Sport 2002-08 $24,530 [17]
