Jaguar E-Type Hedge Finds are a Testament to the Cars Popularity

Two 1964 Jaguar E-type shells discovered under a hedge in the U.K.

Two rotting husks of 1964 Jaguar E-Types have recently been discovered under a hedge in the UK and with an asking price of AU$30,486 for what is essentially scrap metal, these rusted shells remain a testament to the clout and popularity of this Jag.

In the cars’ eBay description, they are said to be complete with engines, running gears and wheels ideal for re-shelling, yet even more amazingly, the cars come with a complete drivetrain despite the rest of the shell and interior rotting away.

With some initial confusion over the exact model of the Jags, the sellers have confirmed that the cars are 64 Series 1 Roadsters, one of the most popular models of E-Types introduced, contributing to the eye-catching asking price of the derelict vehicles.

Selling for an unspecified price this Monday, it is assumed they went for somewhere near the reserve price, although the final figure was undisclosed by bidder and seller.

In disrepair and, at first glance, unusable, the value in these E-Types is largely in their chassis/engine numbers. With tidy ’64 Series 1 Roadsters changing hands at over $300,000 apiece, and a burgeoning British industry in E-Type resurrection , someone has clearly assessed the condition of these crumpled cadavers and decided that they can be profitably revived.
