With all the recent interest in HSV GTSR W1s, and the extraordinary prices they’ve been achieving, it’s not entirely surprising to see this car pop up on the market via Graysonline.

For the HSV or Holden fan, it would be an ultimate trophy for the shed since it’s effectively a one-off from the final program for this series.

The story goes that this is one of four development vehicles and was nominated as W1 Pilot E002.

Under the hood is the typical LS9 6.2lt supercharged V8, claiming 474kW @6500rpm and a monster 815Nm of torque at 3900rpm. That lot was feeding a manual six-speed close-ratio Tremec transmission.

It was effectively the final and greatest of locally-built muscle cars.

Of particular interest for collectors is the car is the only one painted in Jungle Fever, a colour that never made it to the production cars.

The pic above is from a Wheels mag story from 2017, where HSV was introducing journos to the development cars at Phillip Island. Nathan Ponchard from Wheels was clearly impressed, saying, “Make no mistake, this is no stripes-and-decals money-spinner, and nor is it merely a fettled upgrade with a brag-worthy new badge. It’s the frigging duck’s guts, fulfilling every muscle-sedan fantasy anyone could have ever dreamed of.” See the story here.

As icing on the cake, the engine bay has been signed by Holden Supercar drivers Jamie Whincup, Craig Lowndes and a Shane van Gisbergen.

The original ownership pack, including the HSV watch, comes with the car.

Graysonline is handling the auction, promoting it as the ‘King of the Jungle’. The auction begins Feb 18 and concludes Feb 23. See it here.

So, how much will it go for?
