HSV GTS-R heads to Goodwood

UK launch of the last Vauxhall VXR8 to take place at the fabled Festival of Speed

The Brits will be giving the final iteration of Vauxhall VXR8 one hell of an unveiling and, sadly, send-off later this month, when the VXR8 GTS-R will be blasted up the historic hill-climb at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Just 15 examples of the rebadged HSV GTS-R will be heading over to the UK to bare the VXR8 moniker, and they will be priced at 74,500 British Pounds ($127,500 Aussie Dollars). That may seem quite steep to some but 11 of the 15 examples are already spoken for.

The prodigious oomph of the blown LSA donk, which churns out 435kW, will also make the GTS-R the most powerful Vauxhall ever in the firm’s 114 years of existence.

While it may not have always been seen as the most couth vehicle on four wheels, the VXR8 has, in the past, been well received by both enthusiasts and UK auto journalists alike. One can only assume that the final version will be equally well received by the niche audience.

And, while the future of VXR, and HSV for that matter, may have massive question marks over their heads about what the future has in store for them, one thing can be assured; Whoever takes the GTS-R up the renowned hill-climb better be comfortable with a shedload of oversteer.
