HSV Coupe/W427 2001-2009 – 2023 Market Review

2023 Market Review - HSV Coupe/W427 2001-2009

Scroll forward 20 years into a very different automotive market and every model listed under this heading will still be in demand and valuable.

W427s have the potential to overwhelm Ford’s GT-HO Phase III and become Australia’s most desirable muscle car, simply because by the 2040s an HO will be virtually impossible to use on a public road and the W427 may not be.

Just 137 of the projected 200 sedans were built and at under $250,000 they must represent value. If you’re more attracted to the two-doors – which HSV drably badged as Coupes to differentiate them from the mainstream Monaro – then the all-wheel drive Coupe 4 is technically interesting while the GTS is the better performance car.

Several GTS Coupes were offered towards the end of 2022, however the most significant of all (ex-Mark Skaife Build #001) had sold mid-year at $158,500 plus a buyer premium.

GTO 2002-2005 $62,020 [30]

GTS Coupe 2002-2004 $159,460 [6]

Coupe 4 $153,250 [4]

W427 2008-2009 $193,250 [2]
