HSV Coupe/W427 2001-2009 – 2021 Market Review

2021 Market Review - HSV Coupe/W427 2001-2009

We live in a very strange world. On one side of the auction pond sits a $1 million VS GTS-R or perhaps a GTS350 Monaro at $750,000. Fair enough if you want one of those badly enough but look objectively at the hammer price for a Commodore W427.

These are one of, if not THE, ultimate HSV muscle cars yet the car we saw was bid to a miserable $180,000. Later another one was offered at $300,000. They don’t come up often but anyone with the money who understands why people collect significant cars should have a W427 in their vault.

Also corralled in this group are the Monaro-based HSVs commencing with GTO Coupes (top bid a useful $91,000) and the less common GTS. One of those reached $141K and at least one other was advertised at $180,000. That slightly exceeded the money asked for both all-wheel driven Coupe 4s, neither of which exceeded $160,000.

GTO $87,915 [16]

GTS Coupe $143,250 [8]

Coupe 4 $157,995 [2]

W427 2008-09 $240,750 [4]
