HQ Holden ute – today’s tempter

GTS trim

The HQ series marked a golden period for Holden. In a feature on the oine we noted: “It was a break-out car in many ways, and in the eight years of HQ production (including the derivative HJ-HZ models), 767,000 units had been sold. The HQ similarly yielded a successful export program as well, with 197,288 of them despatched overseas and no less than seven international plants assembling them up from Australian-exported parts and components.”

This ute is running the base 173ci six with three-on-the-tree driveline.

However the cabin and exterior have been upgraded with GTS components including dash, steering wheel and grille. The owner also points out it’s running Weld Racing wheels and has had a considerable amount of refurbishment work done.

It’s located in South Australia and is on the market at $38,500.
