Though it’s a long way from being on the collector radar, the VX generation Commodores have a fair bit to recommend them and, when we’re talking of an SS, you could find worse places to park your money.
Aside from the usual cosmetic updates, this series had some significant chassis tweaks, which sharpened up the handling.
In addition, we got to see the ‘new’ 5.7lt LS-series alloy V8 in the snout, which was an immediate headline grabber for the range. Power was a healthy 220kW.
When it comes to long-term prospects for these cars, we’ve seen the values for VN SS series rise significantly in recent years, and you’d have to say this later generation SS will eventually be in demand.
