2023 Market Review - Holden HK-HZ V8
Making their Muscle Car Guide return, early Holden V8s appeal so strongly to the performance market that they can no longer be considered a Family Car. HK V8s weren’t sold in massive numbers so genuine survivors are scarce and expensive.
Checking tags to ensure you aren’t buying a six with a heart transplant is essential. Early Premier V8s were a while back topping $100K but they have declined and look worthwhile at $75-80,000. Later HT-HGs with Australian-made V8s are 25-30 percent cheaper.
Move into HQ-HZ territory and a lot of the cars and especially commercial versions on offer have been modified, so knowing in detail what has been done helps determine value. HZs with Radial Tuned Suspension will be less scary to drive than earlier versions.
