Holden FJ sedan – today’s tempter

Australia's second car

Back in the 1950s a Holden would have been found in just about every garage in the country.  Australia was enormously proud of its ‘own car’ the 48/215, and the FJ was its successor, launched in 1953.

Based on the 48-215, Holden tweaked the styling and comfort was also improved. Power from the carryover 2.2lt straight-six was boosted from 45 to 48kW and a new variant, the Special was added, joining the Standard and Business.

A ute and panelvan were introduced in the FJ and this series was Holden’s first export model.

A total of 169,969 were produced, a testament to its massive popularity.

And so to the dark green model here with an asking price of $33,500. It has had new rear axles, bearings and brakes and is reportedly in excellent running order.
