2021 Market Review - Ford Sprint/Fairlane Compact/Ranchero 1962-1978

Lots of variety here for anyone in the market for a $40,000 American vehicle. The Falcon Sprint between 1962 and 1965 came in two body designs and most that arrived here were V8 powered.

The locally assembled Fairlane Compact was sold only as a sedan, but imported Hardtops are available. So too the later, restyled GT Fairlane which can be found with a 6.4-litre engine at around $55,000.

The Torino was derived from later, longer wheelbase US Fairlanes and survived as a stand-alone series until 1976. Most significant and valuable are 7.0-litre Cobra SCJ or Talladega versions at around $100,000.

| Reader Ride: 1967 Fairlane Ranchero

The Ranchero pickup was based on a variety of Ford models but ended its existence as a Fairlane derivative. Pre-1966 models are less common in Australia than later ones but also cost slightly less.
