Chicane Auctions wrapped up its March Classic Car Auction with another night of strong results, reaffirming the market’s appetite for quality Australian classics, particularly when it comes to blue oval muscle.
Top seller on the night was a beautifully presented Ford XB John Goss Special Coupe, which commanded serious attention and bidding before finding a new home. As a standout example of 1970s Australian motoring history, it proved once again how much enthusiasm remains for limited-edition factory performance heroes.
Another highlight was a rare special-order Ford XA GT, notable for its unique factory 1-of-1 colour in Ambulance White which sold after Auction. A unrestored 1973 Ford XA GT RPO83 drew healthy bidding and Sold above reserve, which added to the night’s Ford-heavy momentum.
Outside of the Fords, a fantastic old-school 1969 HT Holden Sedan, reportedly running original HK Monaro 327 mechanicals, captured plenty of nostalgic interest. American classics were also in the spotlight, with an immaculate 1968 Mustang Fastback turning heads and delivering a strong result.
Adding variety and flair was a uniquely styled XK Falcon Delivery V8, which stood out for its character and artistic finish, one of those cars that remind us just how diverse and passionate the classic car scene can be.
These headline lots were supported by a broad spread of solid sales across a range of marques, reinforcing that buyers are increasingly focused on honest, well-kept vehicles with real history.
“We’re seeing a continued shift away from speculative buyers and back toward genuine collectors who understand the long-term value of these cars. It’s a great sign for the future of the market,” says Chicane Auctions Director Daniel Lamprell.
Looking ahead, excitement is already building for Chicane’s May Classic Car Auction.
Among the early headline entries are an award-winning 1973 Ford Falcon XA GT RPO83 and two genuine XY GTs in immaculate condition, both of which are expected to draw serious national attention.
