2022 Aussie Family & Sports Car Market Review - Ford Laser/TX3/Capri
Basic versions of Ford’s open-top Capri were for a long time the lowest priced convertible you could buy, here or almost anywhere.
That situation is changing, especially where the car is an early turbo-engined model or the very last Clubsprint. Both can reach $15,000, while non-turbos in average condition stay below $6000.
The other Laser-based turbos are TX3 4WDs in KF-KH form or the now very rare KE. These quick, fun cars were for a long time ignored and although later 4WDs are up by 50 percent on 2018 levels they remain affordable.
Front-wheel drive TX3s and ‘normal’ KA-KE Lasers remain cheap, with $6000 buying a hatchback Ghia in excellent condition.
Laser GL/Ghia KA-KE $3780 (20)
Laser TX3 KC-KE $5000 (1)
Laser TX3 KF-KH $9435 (3)
Laser TX3 4WD KF-KH $12,500 (5)
Capri SA/SB $5920 (24)
Capri Turbo $9840 (14)
Capri XR2 $7140 (22)
Capri Clubsprint $9800 (4)
