Market watch: Ford Falcon XR to XY GT

Now that we have some great historical data, it’s time to share!
These figures are collected during the year, by our valuation expert Cliff Chambers, from actual verifiable sales – not some wild rumour or fake sale number.
Here, we’re looking at Australian Ford GTs, from XR, through to XY. As you can see values of some of the premium gear had a wild old ride from 2017 through to late 2019. In the case of the XY GT-HO, it started off with an average value of $500k, rose very rapidly to $800k (with a couple of premium examples going higher), and has started to settle down again as the market has softened a little.

There is prior history to this, that saw a prime example sell for a rumoured $900k circa 2007-2008 and then the average values quickly dropped to under half that number during the global financial crisis.
Recent history says the values may now be more stable, though a softening on HOs is evident across Phase I, II and III.
