Ford Falcon XC ‘Redback’ at auction

Unusual dealer special

An unsual dealer-generated XC Ford Falcon ‘Redback’ is featuring at this month’s Shannons auction in Sydney.

It’s said to be one of two done in the unusual red-on-black livery by NSW outlet Peter Warren Ford, back in 1978.

If you’re in the market for a classic local Ford that isn’t going to cost telephone numbers, a 1978 XC GS Rally Pack is pretty high on the list of desirable cars.

This example is running the 4.9lt V8 with C4 auto and appears to have a reasonably well-recorded history.

The market for Aussie chrome bumper cars has come back a fair bit from the craziness of a couple of a year or two ago, which means prices are looking halfway realistic.

Auction house Shannons has put an estimate of $30-40,000 on this car which, if close to the mark, seems like solid buying. See the full detail here.
