2022 Aussie Family & Sports Car Market Review - Ford Falcon/Fairmont XK-XP
Considering the dim prospects faced 40 years ago by early Falcons, XK-XL models survive in significant numbers and the money available is climbing.
A tidy and authentic XL wagon reached $28,000 at auction and a replica of the 1962 Armstrong 500 winner was offered at an extraordinary $170,000. XL Futuras are scarce and good examples cost around $30,000. XPs are regarded as the best of their era but values in the current market have slipped relative to earlier models.
That doesn’t apply though if you find an XP or preceding XM two-door. These now cost over $50,000 which is more than US versions. Local Hardtops were six-cylinder only, however if someone has slotted a V8 under the bonnet the value can jump by $20,000.
XK-XL Falcon $23,900 (17)
XM-XP Falcon (Exc. H/Top) $22,250 (36)
XM-XP Hardtop $59,835 (3)
XM-XP V8 Conversion $80,000 (1)
XL-XP Futura/Fairmont $44,165 (3)
