2022 Aussie Family & Sports Car Market Review - Ford Falcon/Fairmont XA-XC
Here, hiding in plain sight, are cars that offer plenty of space, good performance even from the six-cylinder versions and (so far) sensible pricing.
Yes, the Hardtops have gone a bit mad but they aren’t practical as family transport. V8 Fairmont sedans cost half the price as a two-door with the same engine.
Basic 4.1-litre XA-XC 500s remain easy to find and good cars generally cost less than $25,000. The Fairmont V8 average was low due to a smallish sample but it is feasible to pay $55,000 for a 351. 4.9-litre XC Fairmonts at $40,000 are cheaper than earlier versions and offer decent value.
V8 utes are reasonably easy to find but vans are scarce and a very good 351 manual with the GS-pack might reach $70,000.
XA-XC Falcon $22,015 (25)
XA-XC Falcon V8 $29,335 (6)
XA-XC Fairmont V8 $43,690 (12)
XA-XC Fairmont 351 $56,375 (4)
XA-XC V8 H/Top $111,125 (9)
XA-XC V8 Utility $49,835 (12)
XA-XC V8 Van $53,750 (4)
