2022 Aussie Family & Sports Car Market Review - Ford Fairlane ZF-ZH/LTD/Landau
People who bought ZF-ZG Fairlanes complained that their cars looked too much like the cheaper Falcon, so in 1976 Ford gave them a shape that could not be confused with anything except maybe a US-made Galaxie.
The ZH Fairlane and its derivative LTD were big cars and used lots of fuel but they were dependable and sold well. They hung together pretty well too, and as a result there are plenty in the market still selling for realistic money.
Even the LTDs which only came with 5.8-litre engines will cost less than a Fairmont with the same engine. ZF-ZGs built from 1972-76 aren’t as common and reflect this in higher prices.
1973-76 LTDs with their concealed headlights have become very scarce and cost twice the price of later P5 versions while two-door Landaus exceed $100,000.
ZF-ZG Fairlane V8 $33,300 (11)
Fairlane ZH/Marquis $23,835 (17)
Landau 1973-75 $129,500 (2)
LTD 1973-76 $47,940 (5)
LTD/Marquis 1977-79 $26,965 (16)
