Ford AU-FG XR6 Turbo/XR8 1998-2010 – market review 2017-18

Gotta love the XR series, but don't forget the TE50.

Those in search of low-cost excitement need to look no further than Falcons built from 1999-2010.

Initially the thought is to grab a V8 but if it’s to be your regular ride, give a thought to the XR6 Turbo.

Fewer cylinders slurping away while crawling in traffic means fewer fuel stops yet there’s still brutal performance on tap.

The BA/BF Turbo is also slightly cheaper than an XR8 of equivalent age.

Eight cylinder FG utes, at present anyway, remain dearer than sedans.

AU XR8 vendors keep clinging to values approaching $10,000 but these are being forced down by an abundance of BA V8s.

Collectors who want a fascinating and significant car should hunt down one of the scarce 5.6-litre TE50 Falcons.

Expect to pay $40,000 for a top car.

AU XR8 II/III $8325 [26]

BA/BF XR8 Sedan/Ute $12,500 [61]

FG XR8 Sedan/Ute $20,315 [31]

BA/BF XR6 Turbo $10,115 [80]

FG Turbo $17,845 [31]

Tickford TE50 SER 3 $30,375 [8]
