A Land Rover Defender 90 delivered new in 2010 for use by the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, now the King and Queen, has been sold for A$139,000.
The Keswick Green with charcoal interior Landie, supplied by JLR Special Vehicles was delivered to the Royal Garage at Highgrove House in November 2010. Confirming its provenance is the letter to Tim Williams, head chauffeur to the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall that was included in the sale.
The driver’s seat shows little wear indicating this wasn’t a vehicle driven by chauffeurs, and while Defenders are short on creature comforts this Royal example has luxury touches like heated seats and heated front and rear screens.
As one imagines, this Defender has been fastidiously maintained, which reflects in its as-new condition and the odometer shows a mere 24,595 miles.
Following its use by the royals, it has gone on to become a centrepiece in a small but dedicated royal collection and devotedly cared for by its fastidious owner.
Accompanying the sale was several interesting items of paperwork including the Land Rover Motoring Users Guide, a Land Rover Assistance Membership Card and a period Certificate of Motor Insurance.
Also included in the sale was the original book pack and service book that details its first service was completed by MJ Fews, Land Rover, Wooton-under-Edge, Highgrove’s local Land Rover specialist.
At the time of sale the Royal Defender 90 wore the registration plates 72 HRH, which were not part of the sale, however, its original civilian plates ‘OV 60 GKA’ have been reassigned to the vehicle and were included in the sale.
