Local SA workshop gets out and races what it builds

Eurosport Automotive in South Australia is increasingly specialising in Alfa Romeo and other Euro restorations, including whole builds. The company also does a full range of servicing on Euro brands such as Alfa, BMW, Audi, VW, Fiat, Peugeot or Mercedes-Benz.

The owner is Peter Axford who is a life member of the Alfa Romeo Owners Club of SA and has operated Eurosport since 1993. Peter has owned and raced a number of Alfa models over many years. He is also a long time member of the Marque Sports Car Association of SA.

"We have been in business since the early ’70s. Initially it was called Europarts, as the business was built around recycling Alfa Romeo and other European brands.

"Over the years we have evolved into a high class mechanical repair operation with half of our work involving the development of Alfa Romeos for competition and fast road use," says Peter.

Currently Peter drives an Alfa 147 GTA, BMW 528I, BMW 325i, Alfa 75 3.0 V6 racing car and owns one of the rare Alfa Junior Zagato 1.3 models. He’s also developing a 2600 Sprint for Targa Tasmania – a very unusual project that will see its first outing i9n 2016 for the 25th anniversary of the event.

"Our workshop is equipped with the Alfa Examiner, Bosch KTS and Snap On diagnostic computers. We can download information from most late model European and Australian cars and some Japanese vehicles.

"Why use an independent shop like ours? Your locally owned repair shop doesn’t have to answer to corporate headquarters and mandates the way many of the large corporate chains or dealers must. The local shop owners make decisions based on considerations other than just the bottom-line," Peter explains.
