Dodge Daytona - Unique 'One-Off' Cars in Australia pt.13
Back in 2009, we put together a list of 13 of our favourite one-offs that had been featured in Unique Cars – or advertised for sale (not counting modified cars or ‘specials’). Completing the list was the Dodge Daytona

They don’t build ’em like they used to, and never was this cliché more apt than in the case of the Sydney-based Dodge Daytona that featured in our June, 2002 issue.
The Daytona and other winged warriors’ raison d’etre was to conquer NASCAR’s high-speed ovals, so production cars were limited to those required by the racing authorities.
Powered by a lusty 440ci V8 and with its extended nosecone and mile-high functional spoiler giving it cartoon looks, the sight of this stock car classic weaving its way through Sydney’s peak hour traffic for our photo-shoot is still etched in our minds.
More remarkable is that the ’69 Daytona, imported from the US in the ’70s, was used as a tow vehicle and daily driver for many years. Last we heard, it had returned to the States. Pity.
Our top 13 'One-Off' list:
2. Studebaker Commander Cabriolet
3. Porsche 959
4. Lincoln Model K Lebaron Coupe
7. Clement
8. 1938 Lancia Astura Farina Cabriolet
10. Alfa Romeo G1
11. BMW M1
13. Dodge Daytona
