Another Art Deco exotic, this time from European shores or more specifically, Italy, the heartland of automotive style and performance.

Mussolini owned one, and this Pinin Farina-designed Astura Farina Cabriolet is one of only 426 built and the only one known to be in Australia.

Imported from the UK many years ago, its current owner, Peter Renou, took more than three decades to lovingly restore it to the pristine state it’s in today.

Virtually everything on the car had to be repaired or replaced, making it a huge job. Even the beautifully engraved escutcheon plates were replaced, at great expense, and the original instruments painstakingly restored.

The finish and overall condition of the car is now on a par with the driving experience, which is "lovely" according to the owner.
