Snapshot: 1958 Facel Vega
If the idea of having an ultra-exclusive car appeals, a Facel Vega should be able to scratch that itch.
The French company had a relatively short but interesting history, as a component maker for the aviation industry, and as a coachbuilder for other marques, and eventually a car-maker in its own right. It made just shy of 500 cars before it went belly-up in the 1960s. We’re told just 71 were built in 1958.
Intended as an uber-luxury GT car, the HK500 is the pick of the range, in this case running a 383 Chrysler V8 with a three-speed auto transmission.
Lorbek in Melbourne has the car, which appears to have undergone a big restoration.
